Frequently Asked Questions

Each of the RIVER Series has its advantages. RIVER is ideal for lightweight, grab-and-go power, which you can expand with the extra battery. RIVER Max includes the extra battery by default, which you can remove to go lightweight. RIVER Pro is made for those that need even more capacity for off-grid, long haul adventures.
Yes. You can control RIVER Pro using your phone. Just link to it in the EcoFlow app to control it from afar.
Yes. RIVER Pro can power devices up to 1800W with our proprietary technology, X-Boost. *X-Boost can run devices that require up to 1800W, however, it’s best to test before use. Some 600W–1800W appliances with strict voltage requirements may not function (e.g. air compressors).
Yes. You can connect up to 2 sets of 110W solar panels to sustainably charge your RIVER Pro in under 3 hours.
It can be an emergency power source (EPS), which will have the same result as UPS for most electronics. Here's the difference. When your RIVER Pro is plugged into the wall, anything plugged into it gets power from the grid, not its battery. If power from the grid stops, RIVER Pro automatically switches to its battery supply mode within 30 milliseconds. That means anything connected will not have power for 30 milliseconds, which may mean sensitive electronics like desktop computers and data servers turn off. Test your devices individually to see if they need UPS to stay powered.

One Star

Since this page hides the one-star reviews, I'm just leaving this here for the person who needs the advice. I've had 2 and sent them back, the River series has a known flaw of getting stuck in "Overload" for no reason. I was charging a laptop with one LED 4W light, nowhere close to the rated output both times. My advice is to buy through TakeALot, it is easier to send it back if something goes wrong.

Wishing I'd bought this sooner..

I am super impressed with this device and only wishing I'd bought it ages ago.. That said it won't be the last Ecoflow product I get. I have it powering our 43" TV, Sonos Beam Gen 2 and two LED light stripes. With all of those combined it's using about 90 Watts which works out to about 10 hours of battery life which is just amazing. Will likely get another one of these if not another two in due course! The whole experience is great - from the well designed app, exceptional build quality of the device itself to the user-friendliness of the interface. Would highly recommend getting this to diminish some of your loadshedding woes.

Love this little device

I am in love with this device (delivered April 2022). It charges so fast, which with increased levels of load shedding is a blessing. I can easily run my TV during load shedding and it barely puts a dent in the battery. Would highly recommend it.

Roderick Lupton

Was delivered in December 2022.On time and well packaged.
Only issue I have been having, is when the load shedding starts, it takes about 30 seconds to switch over to the inverter???Is this normal?
When the load shedding stops it switches back on immediately.
When you work on trading apps, the delay is very frustrating. Will lose the connection when switching over to the inverter.

Punches above it's weight

A lot of people who are unimpressed with the product forget that this is not meant to be a loadshedding appliance, it is primarily for power in mobility for short bursts of time. However being the most accessible and one of the affordable of the range in the market people are expecting it to be as capable as a professionally installed inverter/battery solution. For what it is meant to do and what it is actually capable of it is astonishing. I am able to power a full size fridge/freezer combo, 40" tv, Apple TT, amplifier with powered subwoofer and speakers along with a modem, router, ONT and 2x 15w lamps. It can get through the 2hr loadshedding with 20% power to spare. If I need more for Stage 6, I would switch off the amp and subwoofer and easily get to just around 15%. So for frugal use during stage 6, it will suffice. Not to mention my worries about my fridge switching off/on during loadshedding have all but gone. Anyone who requires longer use than stage 6 or for heavier appliances just has to spend the money on the Delta range which has a much bigger battery capacity along with power output. I have not tried it on a microwave, but I did with an iron and it immediately tripped. It is not a do all, but it will get you through the rough 2hr loadshedding, especially the 6-8pm and 8-10pm schedule, with some light TV use. The fact that it has an app that allows me to monitor it no matter where I am because it os connected to wifi means I am able to keep better track of the amount of power my appliances use and has been really informative about where one can cut down on their use. I would be interested to see how it will stack up with a camping fridge but I believe it will surpass any expectation since it had both DC and AC output. The product honestly does more than what it is meant and designed for. Anyone who disagrees is either using it wrong or was ill informed on purchase. I suggest watching numerous Youtube reviews to get a better understanding of the product and making an informed choice before settling on the right one to get in the River range
